Distributed new installed capacity increased by 200%
According to the latest statistics released by the National Energy Administration on February 5th, 2016, China's newly installed photovoltaic capacity reached 34.54 million kilowatts (34.54 gigawatts). By the end of 2016, China's cumulative installed photovoltaic capacity reached 77.42 million kilowatts (77.42 gigawatts). Therefore, China once again ranked first in the world in both newly installed and cumulative installed photovoltaic capacity.

On December 4, reporters learned that the State Council's previously issued "Notice on the 13th Five-Year Plan for Poverty Alleviation" set specific goals for the photovoltaic poverty alleviation project. The notice points out that photovoltaic poverty alleviation will be implemented in 50,000 registered poor villages with good sunlight conditions, ensuring that 2.8 million registered poor households without the ability to work will see an increase in annual income of over 3,000 yuan per household. Other poverty-stricken areas with good sunlight conditions can implement the project based on local conditions.

Benchmark electricity prices to be lowered in 2017; grid parity for photovoltaic power is imminent
It is understood that the benchmark on-grid electricity price for photovoltaic power generation in 2017 is about to be released, with prices for Class I, II, and III resource zones set at 0.6/0.7/0.8 yuan/kWh respectively. The official announcement will be made shortly. In a previous notice, dated September 29th, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) issued the "Notice on Adjusting the Benchmark Electricity Price for New Energy Sources (Draft for Comments)", proposing to lower the on-grid electricity prices for Class I, II, and III large resource zone ground power stations from 0.80 yuan, 0.88 yuan, and 0.98 yuan to 0.55 yuan, 0.65 yuan, and 0.75 yuan respectively. This has caused significant ripples in the industry.
