Conference Overview:

On the eve of the "14th Five-Year Plan", photovoltaic components are moving towards large Size and high power. The intermittent problems of photovoltaics, the problems of absorption, the problems of subsidy arrears, and the problems of indicators may all restrict its development. For photovoltaic power generation to become the protagonist of power sources, it still needs breakthroughs in technology, system, mechanism, and application scenarios? How to "break away" from photovoltaic energy integration? How do government departments, power grid companies, and power generation groups view the future rise of the photovoltaic industry? Facing the pain points and difficulties that the photovoltaic industry urgently needs to solve, the 2020 Fifth China Photovoltaic Industry Forum, hosted by the International Energy Network's full-media platform, was successfully held at the Beijing Hilton Garden Inn on November 15.

Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 2020 Fifth China Photovoltaic Industry Forum Shi Dinghuan

When talking about achieving carbon peak in 2030 and carbon neutrality in 2060, Shi Dinghuan emphasized the difficulties and problems. He pointed out: "As a developing country, we are the world's largest producer and consumer of energy, and we are the country with the largest coal production capacity. To transform from such a situation to carbon neutrality, this task is extremely arduous. If this goal is only proposed by General Secretary Xi and only a goal proposed in the national plan, but it is not implemented in our various localities, enterprises, and units, then it will be difficult for us to achieve this goal."

Shi Dinghuan suggested that the above goals should be implemented in each province, and each provincial and local government department should also propose its own autonomous contribution plan and autonomous contribution goals. Only by working together can we complete this task.

Wang Bohua, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the China Photovoltaic Industry Association

Wang Bo Hua introduced, "In the first three quarters of this year, faced with the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic and the complex environment of the rapid decline of the global economy, China's photovoltaic enterprises, with their tenacious resilience, still maintained a steady and progressive development trend. In the first three quarters of this year, the newly installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation nationwide reached 18.70 GW, a year-on-year increase of 17%, and the national photovoltaic power generation reached 20.5 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 16.9%. In terms of photovoltaic product exports, the export volume of photovoltaic components in the first three quarters has exceeded the export volume of 52.3 GW in the same period last year, which is even more valuable against the backdrop of the current global economic downturn."

Wang Bo Hua also stated, "Against the background of this energy transformation, it is expected that during the '14th Five-Year Plan' period, the development of China's photovoltaic industry will enter a new stage of simultaneous improvement in quantity and quality. The application of photovoltaics will further tend to diversification, and the photovoltaic industry will accelerate its integration and collaborative development with more fields such as transportation, construction, and industry, helping these fields achieve low-carbon and green transformation."

Zhang Fulong, President of International Energy Network

Zhang Fulong, President of International Energy Network, said emotionally in his speech: "The theme of our conference this year is 'Transformation, Integration, Safety, and Green.' In the past, we used three words, 'Three New,' to represent the theme. This year, we use eight characters and four words to represent the theme. 'Transformation' undoubtedly represents the current trend in energy development; 'Integration' represents the deep integration of traditional energy and new energy, which is the future trend; 'Safety' undoubtedly means that energy development must follow a safe path, whether it is manufacturing or practitioners, we must all engage in safe work; 'Green' represents the future concept of energy development. This is why we set the theme to these eight characters."

Tao Ye, Deputy Director of the Renewable Energy Center, National Development and Reform Commission Energy Research Institute

When talking about the future development goals of new energy, Tao Ye judged: "By the end of 2025, the total amount of primary energy consumption (power generation coal consumption method) will be controlled within 5.5-5.6 billion tons of standard coal. By then, the total installed capacity of China's coal-fired power generation will be effectively controlled. Renewable energy will initially form market competitiveness, basically achieving grid parity (low-price grid connection), and renewable energy will become the main body of energy increment in most regions. By 2025, it is expected that the proportion of all non-fossil energy in primary energy consumption will reach about 19-20% (5.5 billion tons of standard coal); significant progress will be made in renewable energy technological innovation, and a policy and market system that adapts to the diversified and market-oriented development of renewable energy will be basically established. By 2030-2035, renewable energy will fully achieve market-oriented development, and unconventional development of renewable energy will be implemented; a modern energy management system and market mechanism that adapts to the high proportion of new energy will be further improved."
